How the Humble Bumbles got their name

Initially the Humble Bumbles were called Amyables. Oh, what a clever name! I just loved the play on words and how it included my name. Unfortunately, I discovered when trying to trademark that name that it was already taken. Not one to give up, I decided to patiently wait and hope that the current owner of the name at that time would let it expire. In the meantime, my marriage began falling apart. I won’t go into details on my website; if you’d like to know more please order my free CD testimony. But through a very, very tough time in my life, my husband and I filed for divorce. At the time, we had just moved to the Washington D.C. area from San Diego. I left him and moved back to San Diego and got my own apartment. It was through that catastrophe in my personal life that God really got through to me. I can say that I believed in God my whole life, but it was during this low point that I turned to Him with my whole heart. And that is when I decided, through a struggle of weeks and months, that I wanted to give up trying to control my own life and my husband’s and give control to Jesus. Through my trial, God taught me humility – to rely on His strength and not my own. One day in my apartment, He very clearly gave me the name “Humble Bumbles.” I was blown away! Remember, I was sure that there was no cuter name than Amyables. But suddenly everything made sense. I had even used a bee in my Amyables logo but didn’t know why. Now everything just fit together. Plus, when I went to register the name, it flew through the registration process in record time. I knew it was meant to bee! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist).
